Modernization of the livestock industry has brought increased demand for accurate moisture measurement in hay used as feed. However, excessive moisture may cause decomposition to occur, while overly dry hay results in loss of not only weight, but also nutritive value.

Using the principle of electric resistance, the probe inserted into the hay bale and the moisture content (8-25%) is displayed on the analog dial in seconds.

An integrated bias adjustment may be used to improve correlation with local standards. In this instrument, the error codes identify problem readings or environmental conditions.

The PM4044 Auto power off maximizes battery life. Operating temperature is from 0C to 40C. It also includes 4AA batteries and operating manual as well as sample cup and funnel.
