Heidon Three-One Motor overhead mixers deliver stable, repeatable mixing for laboratory formulation, process development, and quality control. Three performance tiers — 40W, 80W, and 120W — cover everything from low-viscosity blending to high-torque production mixing, with speed ranges from 5 to 3,000 RPM. Every model uses a spark-free brushless motor with automatic speed feedback that holds your set speed even as viscosity changes.
Built by Shinto Scientific and refined continuously since 1966, the Three-One Motor line includes over 30 models plus explosion-proof, reciprocating, torque-measurement, and remote-controlled configurations. Kett provides direct sales, application engineering, and technical support for the full Three-One Motor line.
Why manufacturers, laboratories, and R&D teams choose Heidon Three-One Motor mixing systems.
Every Three-One Motor uses automatic feedback control to hold your set speed even as viscosity changes during mixing. Within the rated torque range, the motor continuously adjusts to maintain the RPM you set. No speed drift. No manual correction. No inconsistent batches.
All models use a brushless DC motor developed specifically for mixing. No brushes, no commutators, no sparks. The sealed, airtight aluminum housing keeps external contaminants out of the motor and eliminates the maintenance required by conventional brush motors.
A current limiter circuit and thermal protector work together to guard against motor damage during heavy use. Unlike systems that simply shut down on overload, the Three-One Motor slows its speed and continues mixing. The motor stays protected. Your process stays running.
Z+ models add a patented up-and-down motion to the standard rotation, eliminating the ring layers of unmixed material that form in single-direction mixing. This is especially effective for materials with multiple or changing viscosities, where conventional overhead mixers leave stratified layers.
Over 40 blade configurations, multiple shaft lengths, and accessories for vacuum mixing, dual-shaft operation, and direct tank mounting let you build the exact system your process requires. Collet-style chucks provide a centered, low-vibration shaft hold and tighten by hand with no chuck key. Adjustable-angle positioning places the blade at the optimal mixing point in your vessel. All from a single product platform.
The maintenance-free brushless motor and sealed aluminum body are engineered for years of daily operation in demanding lab and production environments. Backed by a Total Care Warranty covering parts, labor, and specification compliance. Your mixer must maintain its rated speed and torque, not just power on.
The Three-One Motor is an overhead mixing system. You mount the motor on a stand, insert an agitation shaft into the chuck, and select a blade matched to your material and vessel. An adjustable-angle positioning joint lets you tilt the motor up to 30° from vertical and rotate it 360° around the stand axis. This means you can position the blade at the optimal mixing point in your vessel rather than being limited to a fixed vertical orientation.
Once running, the brushless motor holds your set speed through continuous electronic feedback. As viscosity changes during mixing, the motor automatically adjusts to maintain the RPM you selected. This keeps your process consistent from start to finish, even when material properties shift as components dissolve, react, or blend. An LCD panel displays speed in 1 RPM increments along with a load indicator, so you can verify mixing conditions without stopping the process.
For materials with extreme or variable viscosity, Z+ reciprocating models add a vertical up-and-down stroke to the rotation. The blade rises and descends continuously as it spins, creating vertical flow that reaches material a conventional rotating blade would miss. This eliminates the ring-shaped unmixed layers that form when materials of different densities settle at different depths during single-direction mixing. Explosion-proof, torque-measurement, and remote-controlled configurations are also available for specialized requirements.
Heidon Three-One Motor mixing systems serve laboratories and production environments across these industries.
Reaction monitoring, reagent blending, and formulation development involve mixing in controlled environments where safety, precision, and data capture matter. Inconsistent mixing affects reaction rates, yield, and reproducibility across batches. Torque-measurement and data-output models track viscosity changes in real time, and explosion-proof configurations allow mixing of organic solvents and volatile compounds.
Compounding, additive blending, and process simulation require thorough mixing of materials that change viscosity as they react, dissolve, or heat. Unmixed regions produce molecular weight variation, uneven additive distribution, and defects in the finished material. Z+ reciprocating models eliminate ring layers in multi-viscosity materials that conventional overhead mixers leave behind.
Color matching, resin blending, and additive dispersion require stable mixing speeds across a range of viscosities during batch development and QC testing. Speed drift during mixing causes uneven pigment distribution, color inconsistency, or poor film formation that shows up as defects in the finished coating. Three-One Motor systems maintain speed as viscosity changes, keeping each test batch consistent with the last.
Mixing adhesive formulations and sealant compounds involves high-viscosity materials that demand sustained torque without motor strain or stalling. Undermixed batches produce weak bonds, inconsistent cure times, or adhesive failure in the finished product. High-torque BLW models handle viscosities that smaller mixers cannot, with overload protection that slows the motor rather than shutting it down.
Formulation labs blend emulsions, creams, lotions, and suspensions at controlled speeds during product development and stability testing. Inconsistent mixing produces separation, uneven texture, or off-spec viscosity that fails QC and delays product launches. Three-One Motor feedback control holds the set speed throughout the batch, delivering repeatable results from formulation through scale-up.
Ingredient blending, emulsification, and viscosity control during recipe development and QC testing require mixers that hold speed as material properties change. Undermixed batches produce inconsistent texture, separation, or off-spec viscosity that fails sensory or quality testing. Three-One Motor systems maintain set speed through viscosity changes, delivering the batch-to-batch consistency food labs require.
Pulp preparation, chemical treatment, and coating formulation involve heavy, viscous materials that load conventional mixer motors. Motor strain or speed loss during mixing causes uneven chemical distribution, inconsistent pulp quality, or poor coating uniformity. High-torque models sustain mixing speed under heavy loads without overheating or stalling.
Teaching labs, thesis research, and general R&D mixing require a reliable, easy-to-operate system that handles a wide range of materials and vessel sizes. Unreliable equipment wastes research time, produces questionable data, and frustrates students and researchers. The Three-One Motor line covers low-viscosity solutions through heavy pastes, with a modular design that adapts as research needs change.
Three models that showcase the range and capability of the Heidon Three-One Motor line. Each takes a different approach to the same goal: consistent, repeatable mixing.
The recommended starting point for most laboratory and production mixing. The 80W brushless motor generates twice the torque of the standard BL series in the same compact body, handling medium-to-high viscosity materials without strain.
Automatic speed feedback holds your set RPM as material properties change during mixing. Forward and reverse rotation with programmable timers breaks up unmixed ring layers for thorough, consistent results.
Speed range: 10 to 600 RPM.
Adds a patented vertical reciprocating stroke to standard rotation. The blade rises and descends continuously as it spins, creating vertical flow patterns that reach material conventional overhead mixers miss.
This is especially effective for samples with extreme or variable viscosity, where different densities settle into layers that single-direction rotation cannot break up. Multiple blades can be stacked on the shaft for even more thorough mixing in deep vessels.
Speed range: 10 to 600 RPM.
The highest torque in the Three-One Motor line. The 120W motor delivers 4.5 N·m of rated torque for heavy, viscous materials that stall smaller mixers.
Designed for production-scale mixing and process simulation, with a drill chuck that accepts shafts up to 12mm diameter through the hollow drive shaft. Overload protection slows the motor under excessive load rather than shutting down, so your process continues even under demanding conditions.
Speed range: 10 to 300 RPM.
